Support of
FireWire Cameras
NeuroCheck 5.1 now supports selected IEEE
1394 (FireWire) cameras. With the introduction of Windows 2000 these
components became fully plug & play compliant, thereby simplifying the
installation of image capturing hardware significantly.
What is FireWire?
FireWire is a serial high-speed bus
technology for connecting peripheral devices to a PC. Originally
developed by Apple, FireWire now represents an official standard for the
industry (IEEE 1394). FireWire is one of the fastest interfaces
developed so far (transmission rate up to 400 Mbit/s) and thus is well
suited for multimedia devices. A FireWire cable consists of six wires:
two for power supply, two for data and two for synchronization.

New Camera Setup Format
As a further innovation, for the
management of camera setups for IEEE 1394 cameras, a new file format
CSUX (Camera SetUp in XML format) is used: this allows to view the
exported camera setup files with a standard browser like the Microsoft
Internet Explorer and even to edit it with a simple text editor. For
more details on the XML format and its advantages, please refer to
section File Format XML.
